Student-Scientist interface meet held at Indian Institute of Spices Research, Kozhikode
A one-day interactive Student-Scientist interface on “Digital Biology: Unravelling the Biological Puzzles” was held at ICAR-Indian Institute of Spices Research, Kozhikode on April 26, 2022. More than 100 postgraduate students from different disciplines of Life Sciences representing colleges in Kozhikode district participated in the meeting physically. Besides, more than 170 research scholars representing the length and breadth of the country participated in the meeting virtually using online mode. The interface was planned to bring together students and scientific communities working on various aspects of digital biology, discuss current developments in the area, and inspire young minds to take up challenges in frontier areas of digital biology research. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. M. Nasser, Pro Vice-Chancellor, University of Calicut. The meeting had sessions on topics like Caenorhabditis elegans a unique experimental tool for biomedical sciences, Understanding secrets of life through wriggling worms, From personal genomes to populations and back, and Bioinformatics: Accelerating biological and biomedical research. Dr. Rakesh Pandey, Dr Santhosh J Eapen, Dr Vinod Scaria, and Dr Rosana O Babu delivered talks on these aspects and interacted with the students. The interface was presided over by Dr C.K. Thankamani, Director in charge of ICAR-IISR, Kozhikode, Dr Santhosh J Eapen welcomed the gathering, and Dr. A. I Bhat proposed the vote of thanks.
