ICAR-IISR conducted a three-day training program on Production and Value Addition of Turmeric for farmers and officials from Wardha District, Maharashtra during 26-28 February. The farmers were the cultivators of GI tagged Waigaon Turmeric. The participants were beneficiaries and officials from ATMA and SMART Project (Agri-business for rural transformation project funded by World bank) Maharashtra. The training program was inaugurated by Dr. V Srinivasan, Head, Division of Crop Production & PHT. Sessions related to good agricultural practices in turmeric, pest and disease management and processing and value-addition in turmeric were carried out for the participants. They also visited the farm and production facilities at ICAR-IISR headquarters and Experimental Farm, Peruvannamuzhi. Further the team visited Directorate of Arecanut and Spices Development, Kozhikode. The valedictory function was chaired by Dr. Rajeev P, Principal Scientist.
