In connection with World Environment Day an awareness lecture on “Mazhayarivu – Know the nature” was organized at ICAR-Indian Institute of Spices Research, Kozhikode on 4th June 2022. Shri. T. V. Krishna Prakash, noted Environmentalist and State Resource Person (Education) was the Chief Guest of the programme. He stressed the importance of creating awareness about the role, relevance and human dependence on environment among the younger generation. The programme was followed by mass planting of cinnamon seedlings for establishing a new block of spice plantation at the institute headquarters. More than 100 staff members and research scholars participated in the planting drive. Dr. C. K. Thankamani, Director, ICAR-IISR presided over the programme. Mr. Muhammed Nissar, Scientist, ICAR-IISR welcomed the gathering and Dr. C. Sellaperumal proposed the vote of thanks.
